BUT Im going to keep things a little festive today and make MIAMI HORROR the topic of this Music MondayIm sure MIAMI HORROR is old news to the good majority of you who actually read the Music Monday posts but I really dont care. I have been listening to M.H. on repeat for a week straight and I can’t seem to get enough.

Since there are two different views on who is in Miami Horror and what they are all about, Miami Horror can refer to its producer, Benjamin Plant, or its four-piece live incarnation.

Plant began his music career by being a “Dj for hire” while making remixes on the side, and then eventually his remixes started to gain some serious attnetion and it turned him into the MIAMI HORROR we know today. He remixed Pnau, The Presets, Bloc Party, Datarock and The Dirty Secrets.
Miami Horror’s live show is augmented by Josh Moriarty (Peacocks, ex-Young & Restless) on guitar, DJ/producer Aaron Shanahan on drums, and Daniel Whitechurch on keys, guitar and bass guitar. The live incarnation of Miami Horror appeared at the Good Vibrations, ‘Groovin The Moo’ and Splendour In The Grass festivals in 2009. The band also supported indie pop act Friendly Fires on their Australian tour in July 2009.

Say what you want about their style of music, but for some reason I can listen to them all day. What’s crazy is they actually play all their songs LIVE…none of this American Idol lip sync shit and no pre-recorded mixes that they just cue in with a couple turns of a knob. While I was at Coachella last weekend the two shows that were my favorite were: Morrissey, and the PRESETS .. yes I like them THAT much. So when G-MO asked me to cruise out to their show at the Glasshouse last monday that he just happened to be DJing at I gave him a solid HELL YESS!!!
The night opened up with G-MO and Paparazzi on the decks, then THE GOLDEN FILTER hit the stage for a live performance to get the crowd movin before THE PRESETS brought the roof down. Up until that night I had never heard about THE GOLDEN FILTER but Im glad they didnt suck live because now Im a huge fan of them too… In fact I bought their cd and I have been switching back and forth from THE PRESETS to THE GOLDEN FILTER all week long. This shit never gets old to me.

Thanks to GMO GMO GMO we got a photo pass into the event and got to take some super up close photos of their performance (maybe even too close), the show was super fun. Cut Copy played that night with GMO, HEARTBREAK and, THE PRESETS (another one of my favorites) and even though, I showed up 12 mins into their set and missed everyone elses performance it was still well worth it.

In case you dont know who CUT COPY is…. take a mixture of the lighter stuff of DAFT PUNK mix it with MODERN TALKING and ad some New Zealand vocals and you got it.
