I know this post is a day late and a dollar short but my keyboard on my computer didn’t work all day yesterday so give me a break okay!!
MANY of you who frequent this site know about our “feel good friday’s” and our relationship with our favorite videographer PAUL NGUYEN. But many of you don’t know that he has been a huge reason why we keep doing what we do. Paul has grown from a bright eyed bushy tailed kid with a fast car from Irvine to a well respected videographer / blogger and now designer in just 2 short years. Whenever we see one of our friends progress this much, we can’t help but be excited for him!

I can remember going out on nights when it was just us two and those were some of the most fun nights I have had in this very long “party” career of mine. In fact, there was a summer where we went out so much that we were permanently on “recess.” We literally did nothing but kid stuff all day and then rage hard at night.

At one point people actually thought Paul was the man behind fakeRICH, and I had no problems in letting people believe that….

Now a days Paul has been focusing hard on his film career and pushing his AnalogHoliday brand and I can’t see anything stopping him.
I tried posting as many photos as I could that would sum up the “personality” of Paul but none of my photos even come close to explaining who “PRETTYBOYPAUL” is, so I will let one of his films do the talking for him.

Since I can’t really afford to buy you any gifts this year, I am giving you all my neu gems. I know you would appreciate them more than anyone but try not to play them all at once. I don’t want you to go into a disco overload.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY: TOKYO SEX PISTOLS

Today I post an homage to the Japanese Fashion Dream Team aka the JDM Rat Pack that is Hiroshi Fujiwara (FRAGMENT, SOPH.), Jun Takahashi (UNDERCOVER, NOWHERE), Hikaru Iwanaga (BOUNTY X HUNTER) and Nobu Kitamura (HYSTERIC GLAMOUR). A reocurring theme in all of their designs is the heavy presence of punk rock, especially apparent in Hikaru’s BOUNTY X HUNTER line (Mykal’s favourite). Hiroshi Fujiwara has grown and his desings have naturally matured to a more casual aesthetic, though his approach can be considered unconventional, much like punk rock itself. His music has changed from thrash to collaborations with mister Slowhand himself, Eric Clapton and guitar work for Nujabes. The dark and brooding tone of Jun Takahashi’s line UNDERCOVER has always captivated me and inspired the production of a few of my films. Before they became today’s tastemakers they played together in a band called THE TOKYO SEX PISTOLS, enjoy a rare glimpse of them performing…

INTERVIEW WITH CALVIN HARRIS

You know the saying: “Don’t ever meet your heroes ..they will always end up letting you down.” Well Calvin Harris IS one of our heroes and he turned out to be one of the funniest, nicest dudes we have ever met.

As soon as I got the greenlight to interview Calvin, I made a phone call over to Quang Le to see if he had enough time in his busy schedule to film. To my surprise, Quang jumped at the idea and was really excited to interview the guy who “gets all the girls.”

Quang and I grabbed his 5D along with Pretty Boy Paul’s light and headed up to Hollywood as soon as we could. Once we got there we were greeted with some major disorganization, but lucky for us Calvin’s manager, Mark, made sure we were taken care of… I could go on an on about the night and the dichotomy between how nice and hospitable Calvin Harris and his people were and how disorganized and unfriendly the people at the Vanguard were, but I’ll digress and move into the interview.

I got a chance to sit down with Calvin for 15 minutes or so before he absolutely tore the roof off the Vanguard… It turns out Calvin was one of those dudes who you can pretty much chat with about anything, as long as you enjoy a good dry sense of humor.

It was seriously a pleasure meeting Calvin and Mark, and Mark (”said band member”) I can’t wait for them to come back to the states so we can chat with them again.

INTERVIEW WITH THE PRODIGY

The Prodigy is one of those bands/ groups that are in a category of their own. Very few bands can say they helped to invent a musical genre. Just like how Arlo Eisenberg “invented aggressive inline skating”, THE PRODIGY helped fuel the Electronic music fire.
3 months ago we had the pleasure of meeting, Maxim Reality, Keith Flint, and Liam Howlet aka THE PRODIGY for a quick sit down at the Sunset Marquis Hotel before they performed to a sold out crowd at the Palladium.
While Paul and I were preparing for the interview we had a million and one questions going through our heads and we could have probably talked with these guys for hours.
Some of the questions we settled on were:

“After nearly 20 years of making music, what keeps you guys going”
“What was is like working with Dave Grohl?”
“When you guys come to L.A. what do you guys like to do when you are out here?”
“If you could perform with any ONE act (”Dead or Alive”) right now, who would it be?”

After we asked them our set of questions we must have chatted for another 30 or so minutes off camera just shooting the shit. Unfortunately we were a little pressed for time, so we had to cut our interview and conversations short.

After our interview they invited us backstage before they performed so we could keep chatting about music, fashion, girls, and headphones.

(It was one of those all too surreal moments chatting with Keith Flint, Masuimi Max and Lupe Fiasco) Before we knew it, it was time for the PRODIGY to go on stage and we were all blown away by the unforgettable performance.

It really was a GIANT pleasure meeting the guys and hanging with them while they were in town major thanks to Siouxz and EVERYONE from Magnum PR. None of this would have happened without you guys.
