Today I post an homage to the Japanese Fashion Dream Team aka the JDM Rat Pack that is Hiroshi Fujiwara (FRAGMENT, SOPH.), Jun Takahashi (UNDERCOVER, NOWHERE), Hikaru Iwanaga (BOUNTY X HUNTER) and Nobu Kitamura (HYSTERIC GLAMOUR). A reocurring theme in all of their designs is the heavy presence of punk rock, especially apparent in Hikaru’s BOUNTY X HUNTER line (Mykal’s favourite). Hiroshi Fujiwara has grown and his desings have naturally matured to a more casual aesthetic, though his approach can be considered unconventional, much like punk rock itself. His music has changed from thrash to collaborations with mister Slowhand himself, Eric Clapton and guitar work for Nujabes. The dark and brooding tone of Jun Takahashi’s line UNDERCOVER has always captivated me and inspired the production of a few of my films. Before they became today’s tastemakers they played together in a band called THE TOKYO SEX PISTOLS, enjoy a rare glimpse of them performing…

MAGIC day 3 (show coverage)

Our last set of the MAGIC photos ended with us spending our last day inside the show… Since EVERYONE was sooo afraid of anyone taking a photo of their booth I really couldn’t get many shots of the brands there.

So Ill just go ahead and put up one of my new favorite songs and the photos w/o too much commentation.

Either way I would like to thank everyone who reads this blog and everyone who helped make MAGIC an amazing time. Yeah I may be putting the final set of photos up a week late but nonetheless it was an amazing time.

BUSYWORK 1 YEAR LATER

Im not sure if any of you even went to to BUSYWORK in Orange County a year ago but if you did you KNOW how dead it was inside there….You were probably one of the only 5 people inside the entire club the whole night. But now it has grown into the new place to be on a Wednesday night.

I have to give it up to GMO / DAN SENA/ CLIFFORD LIDELL / FRANCO SHADE/ and the rest of the Wednesday night crew for putting in a years worth of work….
And for the 1 year anniversary DAN SENA brought out all the heavy hitters…
With a HUGE Line up that featured :
THEE MIKE B, PUBLIC, DAMAGER, YOOKS, GMO, LOUISAAAAAH, and a LIVE performance of SLAYER on the guitar… you knew that it would be a huge success.

AND
To help celebrate… we gave out cold hard CASH that night to get people psyched on Detroit… The envelopes were filled with ONE dollar bills and, one envelope was filled with a 100 spot and another had a 50 in it. You may wonder why we decided to give away money? Well, even though we gave away almost 200 bucks that night…its still cheaper than making a custom T-shirt

BARRACUDA HAIR OPENING

This last friday… we were asked by the ONE AND ONLY jerry Park from Barracuda Hair to come and cover his grand opening party…. Needless to say as soon as we got the invite we were excited to shoot it. On top of that… that night I passed up BACKSTAGE passes to IRON MAIDEN just to come out and shoot his party (as well as the the Made You Look party in Costa mesa) And to be completely honest with you …. the Barracuda party was actually really fun.

Anytime you mix and OPEN BAR with GOOD MUSIC, and HOLLYWOOD SOCIALITES you are in for a treat… and thats exactly what it was.

Although I have yet to get my hair (or lack of) cut from Jerry and his crew at Barracuda the buzz they have created in the Melrose / Hollywood scene is something you can’t deny. And the proof is in the photos… it seemed as though EVERYONE who was someone ( or at least who thought they were) showed up.

I could go on and on about how awesome the event was……. but ill cut it short and save it for when the website launches.

One thing I was really looking forward to was seeing my boys from PINK ENEMY and ROYAL RUMBLE perform live…
We happened to get the first part of PINK ENEMY’S performance**without their female guitar shredder** but then we had to leave to go back to Orange County for the DATAROCK part at Detroit bar… but that doesn’t mean we didn’t get some good pics
