As many of you know Alexander McQueen has quickly become a household name in the fashion / design world. And today that world along with many others have suffered a tragic loss.

Since 1992 when McQueen first formed his own label, he has always pushed the envelope of cutting edge design. Not only were his fashions provacative and theatrical, but the quality of his work was impeccable.

This morning he was found dead in his London home and the authorities are saying it was death by suicide. Earlier this month McQueen had to deal with the death of his mother (Feb 2nd.) On his Twitter account he said he wanted his mother to rest in peace and said, “But life must go on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Using an obscenity, he added that he had had an “awful week“ and said he had to “some how pull myself together and finish.”

“McQueen influenced a whole generation of designers. His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs,” said Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue.

We will all miss him dearly but what he did for fashion around the world will always live on. Rest in peace Alexander Mcqueen.
