Why is it that Amsterdam has been pumping out some of the raddest musicians over the past year? Could it be because of all the hookers, weed, booze, and great food? Or could it be from all the tourists coming through dropping off some diverse music ? Im not sure why, but Amsterdam has been killing it lately and one artist to help push the movement is RUBIX!!!

Im sure all of you have heard the Baisur Sur La Disco remix he did a few months back by now.. (if you haven’t keep reading the MP3 will be at the bottom) not only is that track pure fire but as soon as I heard it, I knew I wanted to hear more from this guy and once I did I was completely blown away!!! So today we are bringing a very special International edition of MUSIC MONDAY… a quick interview with the one and only RUBIX….

Where do you live?
Amsterdam

How old are you?
23

Your music style is obviously heavily influenced by disco and house but as
a kid what music were you into?
My dad has a great collection of disco records, that inspired me a lot. So when I need a sample I just go through his collection.

Are those the same groups / bands you influence you today?
As a DJ/producer Laidback Luke was a great hero for me. Back in the days he played a lot of disco house tracks with some turntablism flavours.

How long have you been making music / Djing for?
Djing for about 5 years now and making music for about 4 years now

What’s the scene like out there in Amsterdam?
We have a great scene over here in Amsterdam. With a lot of talented producers and DJ’s Like Tom Trago, Le Le, Mightyfools, Dem Slackers, Boemklatsch, Henzel und Disco (Vagegasten), Guerilla Speakerz, Homework and Wannabeastar. So if you come to Amsterdam be sure to check one of these guys/girls!

Its so crazy how some pretty amazing artists from Amsterdam have just
broke into the limelight this year (LeLe / Parra) Do you think that one
day Amsterdam will add music to the list of reasons why so many people
visit each year? Or has it already?
It already is!

Have you ever played any shows out in the US?
If not, when do you plan on coming out here?
Nope not yet. But I’m getting a lot of requests from the states.

Have you ever bought any special friends from the red light district in
Amsterdam? and if so what was her name? Im traveling to Amsterdam this
year and I want to make sure I know what my options are.
Nope never been there haha!

If you could perform live with any artist in the world (alive or dead) who
would it be?
Stevie Wonder

Going off the success of B.s.l.d. do you have any other tracks or remixes
in the works that you are pumped about if so, Can we hear some?
There are some great remixes coming up for Bart B More, Juice and Casette Club and a new EP. When their ready I will send them over.

Where do you see RUBIX in the next year, and where do you see RUBIX in the
next 10 years?
On top of the world haha
