Last Tuesday we were invited out by our new friends over at MSO to join them for a one of a kind night over at the ROXY off Sunset. Let me just start off by saying I haven’t been up to LA in full -party mode in quite a long time. In fact, the last time I think I went up there to actually party was well over a year ago. Now-a-days, when I go up to LA its usually because of meetings or because I “need” to take pictures of the coolest party in town. Which basically means I wont be having that much fun. Last Tuesday was one of those extremely rare times when I went up to LA and had more fun that anyone should have in one night.
OK back to the nights details.
Joseph Wilson and I got a little late start on our night and ended up getting to the ROXY around 11:10pm. I was initially worried that we would miss the majority of the night, but luck was on our side and the Roxy pushed the set times back. We got there just as SUPER MASH BROS got on stage. Up until that moment I had NO CLUE who they were and I also had no clue how many kids were fans of them. It was a very weird feeling being the ONLY two dudes inside the Roxy (Besides the bouncers) with facial hair (over the age of 17). But I must say our host’s made being a good 10 years older than anyone in the building very enjoyable by way of plenty of drink tickets and tons of hospitality. (Im going to be arrested for posting these photos)
After THE SUPER MASH BROS literally made the Roxy a Giant sauna. J*DAvey Went on the decks and provided a little more grown up soundtrack for the evening. While they were on the tables, Elevator Fight was getting warmed up on the main stage to and we took that opportunity to thank Alexandar and Angela for an unforgettable evening. After we snapped some photos of J*Davey we headed over to Cinespace to catch some of SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEMS set before it got too late. Needless to say we were already in full party mode by the time we got to Cinespace and as soon as we walked in.. DAN OH challenged us to a shot drinking contest. Since Joseph and I won’t ever back down from any drinking challenge we had to kick it in to defcon 5 and show Dan Oh whats up. The rest of the night was a blur but I can honestly say it was one of most enjoyable nights I’ve had in LA in a very long time.
