SKATEBOARDING VIDEOS AS ART?

By Mykal • Mar 31st, 2009 • Category: BLOG, DESIGN, FEATURES

Now a days, with the advance of technology “art” can be found in all sorts of wonderful and unexpected places. This video is a perfect example of just that.
Although, I have yet to find out exactly where the video was shot, (somewhere near the eiffel tower ) the obvious European back drop provides an excellent contrast between modern forms of artistic expression and traditional. This video is so good that all I want to do is give you all more information on the person/ company who shot it but unfortunately their website is in french. I must have watched it 5 times in a row just to pick up each little nuance of how each trick. Deep down inside I know that if i watch each trick in super high res / slow mo, I might be able to gain an understanding of exactly how each trick is performed, therefore making me realize how badly I suck at skateboarding.

skate – shot on red #1347 – 120 fps from www.theglobules.com on Vimeo.

Make sure you check out their site anyways, THEGLOBULES.COM has a bunch of other videos on there that you can easily get lost in.

In case you were wondering what song was used:
BANG GANG – IT’S ALRIGHT (RADIO EDIT)
make sure you check out BANG GANG for more of their stuff.

Another PERFECT song for the video could have been
FREE THE ROBOTS – HOW IS THE WORLD
Make sure you check out FREE THE ROBOTS here as well.

  1. just like the the song, its alright….kind of like sizzler.

  2. I believe this was filmed by the Lakai/Girl team. If you’ve seen Fully Flared, their intro was also in High Resolution and in slow-motion. I recognize some of the skaters, shoes, and boards too.
