MONEY MONDAY (fine food and a great interview)
By Mykal • Jan 28th, 2009 • Category: BLOG, FEATURESMonday was one of those days where everything just seemed too good to be true. It started off with an amazing lunch with a new friend, at a place where I usually don’t eat called Native Foods then it went into an amazing interview with Arlo Eisenberg and ended with some of the best food I have ever eaten in my entire LIFE at Tom Collichio’s restaurant in LA called Craft.
That day was soo good infact, that it is really tough for me to put into words EVERY detail that made the day awesome. I will try to re-cap the day the best I can.
The day before … my good friend ARLO EISENBERG agreed for Paul and I to come to his new spot and do a “quick” interview of him regarding his new brand GOST. So the next morning I woke up with a level of excitement that was reminiscent of Christmas morning. After I finished my lunch I had to prepare myself for the interview of Arlo. This was super hard for me because I wanted to interview to focus on his life now… not his life 14 years ago (X-GAMES) so I quickly jotted a few questions down to guide the interview and tried to focus on some hard hitting questions..Before I knew it, it was time to pick up Paul and get all the equipment set up for the interview. Lucky for fakeRICH and myself, Paul happens to be a video whiz, without him the Arlo interview wouldn’t have been so technically sound. We owe a lot to that dude and his video skillz. I can’t go into too much detail regarding the interview now because we still have some more shots to take but Ill give you some of my favorite “behind the scenes” photos
HUGE thanks to Arlo and his girl for letting us take up their time that night to get one of the best interviews yet.
After we wrapped up the interview I got the Culinary phone call of my LIFE.. Our friend Shawn Pham happens to be a very well liked chef at Tom Collichio’s restaurant CRAFT in L.A. and he wanted to take us out for the dinner of our lives. As soon as we set everything up I had to give my stomach the pep talk of its life so it wouldn’t quit on me halfway through the meal. I did that by eating a bag of flaming hot cheetos… (”they make me go crazy”) yeah its not “healthy” but I dont care.
I don’t know where to start to describe how sensational the food was that night. It was beautifully layered with the perfect blend of flavors, texture, and presentation and lucky for us it just kept coming. To give you an idea of how many courses we were treated wit; they even made a special “BBQ Pork Banh Mi (Sandwich)” just for us. In case you didn’t know..Craft is an “American themed” restaurant so even though it was a Banh Mi sandwich is a simple vietnamese sandwich it just goes to show you the lengths that the chef’s went to in order to make our dining experience a ridiculously impressive one.
Some crazy photos of our night:
And just so you all know… I owe the best dinner of my life to this guy:
